Today I’d like to start something called The Off Beat. As my readers, friends, and family know, I’m an off-beat kind of woman. I promote what I love and ignore what I don’t like. I love a lot of things aside from horror, food, psychology, and cats, you know. I love to learn about different things, especially other cultures, music, history, and more.
I thought it would be a good idea to put together a little “Corner Gallery” where I collect cool stories, tidbits of history, blogs of interest, and the like. The Off-Beat seems a fitting title because it’s not my norm of psychology or horror/weird fiction.
A cool dude I know (I’m a Gen X’er so yes I still say cool dude) has a rap review blog called Oracle Rap Reviews, and he’s the first one I want to put in my gallery. Not just because I like the guy personally (I do!) but because he’s put a lot of effort into this blog.
I don’t know many rap music artists. There is some of it I like a lot upon hearing it, though, and sometimes I just like to hear different music. I enjoy a very eclectic mix of music (if you look at my Spotify library you will piss yourself laughing at some of it, I’m sure), and I’m always on the lookout for new sounds and ear candy.
Oracle Rap Reviews, as of this writing, is on its sixth review, introducing people to various artists and new music, and giving the audience a platform to discuss these artists.
The entries are sectioned and organized, describing different aspects of the music. But it also focuses more on the positive rather than the negative, yet the reviews remain honest.
If you like rap music or want to learn more about it, this is a good place to start.
