added, and for 2023 the three novels Starblood, Psychonaut and The Death and Resurrection Show
have been polished, edited and have gorgeous new covers courtesy of Paul Grover (AoS design).

What is Starblood about?
Starblood was written during a difficult period of my life. I had given birth to my second daughter
and was struggling to bond with her while keeping some sense of my own identity at the same time.
The business I had been running (with my then husband was failing, and my marriage was on the
rocks. Star’s struggle, to discover who she is beneath the layers of what others see, was very much
my struggle too.
I was shocked and surprised by the overwhelming positive reception Starblood and Psychonaut
received. Since writing Starblood, I have read books by Thomas Ligotti, and learned that many of us
do not fit comfortably into this modern world. We flounder about, trying to find ways to fit in
without compromising what makes us who we are.
On the flip side, the message is one of self-acceptance. Even if we don’t fit in, we are still important.
We have value. Our dreams mean something, and as Lilith says in the first book: “There is no shame
in love, only completion.” I hope people can see that Lilith is not only talking about romantic love but
also love and acceptance of self and all the multi-faceted, unique and marvellous people in our lives.
Psychonaut is a story of redemption. The main characters learn ways to rise above their flaws. Star,
Satori, Lilith and Donna change in profound and positive ways, making Psychonaut an uplifting book,
especially after the pain and suffering of Starblood.

Carmilla Voiez is a British horror and fantasy writer living in Scotland. Her influences include
Graham Masterton, Thomas Ligotti, and Clive Barker. She is pansexual and passionate about
intersectional feminism and human rights. Carmilla has a First-Class Bachelor’s degree in
Creative Writing and Linguistics. Her work includes stories in horror anthologies published
by Crystal Lake Publishing, Clash Books and Mocha Memoirs; a co-authored Southern Gothic
Horror novel; two self-published graphic novels, and the award-winning, dark
fantasy/horror Starblood trilogy. Graham Masterton described the second book in her
Starblood trilogy as a “compelling story in a hypnotic, distinctive voice that brings her eerie
